Under the theme “A Holiday to Learn, Grow, and Create Opportunities for a Future Free from Poverty,” the IRAGI Foundation, in collaboration with YBSP, officially concluded its educational activities for children during the one-month academic holiday period this Saturday, 22nd August, 2026. The closing ceremony was held in Gihanga, Mpanda Commune, Bujumbura Province.

The event began with friendly football matches between the girls’ and boys’ teams and teams from Gihanga, creating a joyful atmosphere and promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and unity among the young participants. The matches ended with Gihanga teams emerging victorious.

The Administrator of Mpanda Commune, Léopold NDAYISABA, commended the commitment of Hon. Olivier SUGURU, Founder of the IRAGI Foundation, for his numerous initiatives aimed at supporting and empowering local communities.

Hon. Olivier SUGURU, Founder of the IRAGI Foundation, expressed his appreciation to the YBSP team for its dedication and efforts in implementing the educational holiday program and supporting beneficiaries in Gihanga.

Arthur Mugisha, Legal Representative of YBSP, also expressed his gratitude to Madam Daniella, who initiated the idea of supporting young people in Gihanga and Bujumbura. He highlighted that her commitment to supporting children and youth is not a new initiative, but part of her continued dedication to the community.

The Executive Director of YBSP, Elvis ARAKAZA, presented the organization’s main areas of intervention, with a focus on entrepreneurship, reproductive health, and personal development for children and women. He also reaffirmed YBSP’s ambition to expand these programs to communities across the country.

The closing ceremony featured a variety of artistic and recreational activities, during which the children demonstrated the knowledge and skills they had acquired throughout the month-long program. Their presentations included songs, dances, musical performances, and educational games, creating a memorable celebration of learning and creativity.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards to the most outstanding children, followed by the distribution of school kits to all participants. Each kit included 10 exercise books, a backpack, and other essential school supplies, providing the children with the necessary materials to support their education in the upcoming school year.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of IRAGI Foundation and YBSP to investing in children, promoting education, developing young people’s skills, empowering communities, and creating opportunities for a future free from poverty.
